The Grammy-winning Afrobeats star releases alternate version of his single “In My Feelings,” featuring viral Canadian R&B artist, Chikoruss.

Afrobeats maestro Kel-P has injected a fresh vibe into his chart-topping single, “In My Feelings,” by teaming up with Canadian R&B sensation Chikoruss for an electrifying alternate version. Known for his global musical prowess, Kel-P enlisted Chikoruss to infuse his unique voice and style into the track, bringing a fresh perspective from across the globe. Chikoruss gained viral fame with his 2023 hit, "Body Language," which took TikTok by storm. The release is complemented by an official music video capturing the dynamic duo's rendezvous in the vibrant backdrop of New York City. Reflecting on the collaboration, Kel-P expressed his excitement, stating, “Chikoruss' verse blew me away! It added just the right flavor the song needed.” Chikoruss echoed this sentiment, saying, “Collaborating with Kel-P was fantastic; blending our diverse musical styles was a seamless process. There was a genuine connection on set, mirroring the essence of the song.”

The original rendition of “In My Feelings” debuted in February featuring French rap luminary Kalash. Kel-P recently unveiled an acoustic remix, performed live at the iconic Oculus at the World Trade Center in New York. This track is slated to feature on the upcoming second volume of Kel-P’s acclaimed Bully Season EP series, set for release later this year via Virgin Music France/Virgin Music US/Jones Worldwide.

Kel-P's journey to the forefront of the music scene is remarkable. After making waves as a producer for industry heavyweights like Burna Boy, Rema, Adekunle Gold, Davido, and Janelle Monaé, and clinching a Grammy for his collaboration with Angélique Kidjo, Kel-P ventured into his own solo career in 2023 with the release of Bully Season Vol.1 EP. The lead single, “One More Night,” garnered critical acclaim, earning a spot on Rolling Stone's list of "The 40 Best Afropop Songs of 2023." Crafted to ignite the dance floor and captivate listeners, the Bully Season EP series showcases Kel-P's prowess as a hitmaker. “The name 'Bully Season' reflects my journey, encompassing my work ethic, triumphs, setbacks, relationships, and life experiences leading up to this moment,” Kel-P explained.

Born in Calabar as a twin and orphaned at a tender age, Kel-P relocated to Lagos where he found his musical mentor in Sarz. Encouraged to create his own beats, Kel-P swiftly developed his signature style, characterized by vibrant and dynamic soundscapes. His breakthrough came with the production of Solidstar’s “Eleganza” in 2018, followed by a string of collaborations with Burna Boy, including hits like “On The Low,” “Gbona,” “Killin Dem,” and “Pull Up.” Kel-P's repertoire continued to expand, encompassing notable tracks like Wizkid’s “Ginger” featuring Burna Boy and “Donne-moi l’accord” for Dadju and Burna Boy. Branching out further, he contributed to Skip Marley’s Higher Place album, earning a Grammy nomination for “Best Reggae Album” with the track “Faith.”

Kel-P's distinctive tag, “It’s Kel-P vibes,” has become synonymous with chart-topping hits. Garnering critical acclaim and industry recognition, Kel-P's trajectory toward musical royalty seems unstoppable. Recently, his contribution to the blockbuster Creed III soundtrack, specifically the track “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” executive produced by J. Cole’s Dreamville, has earned him a nomination for this year's NAACP Awards.
